1. Introduction
The Punjab Media Association ("PMA", "we", "our") respects the privacy of every visitor, member, and verifier who interacts with this website. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using this site you agree to the practices described here.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information in three ways:
- Information you provide directly — when you submit the contact form, subscribe to the newsletter, or use the verification form (Member ID).
- Member records — held about active members of PMA. These are entered by PMA administrators, not by visitors.
- Technical information — collected automatically when you visit, including IP address, browser type, pages visited, and verification attempts (for audit and abuse detection).
3. How We Use Information
Information collected through this site is used only for the purposes described below:
- To respond to inquiries submitted through the contact form.
- To verify whether a Member ID corresponds to a genuine PMA member.
- To detect and prevent abuse of the verification system (rate limiting, scraping detection).
- To send newsletters to subscribers who have opted in.
- To improve site performance and user experience through aggregated, anonymized analytics.
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information.
4. Member Records & CNIC
For PMA members, certain identifying information may be held in our records, including (where applicable) a CNIC number. CNIC numbers are encrypted at rest and are never displayed unmasked on the public verification result. Only the last digit is shown ("XXXXX-XXXXXXX-9") for confirmation purposes.
Members' phone numbers and email addresses are kept private and are not shown publicly.
5. Verification Logging
Every verification attempt — whether successful or not — is logged for audit and abuse detection. The log includes the Member ID attempted, the IP address, user agent, timestamp, and result. This data is reviewed by PMA administrators and may be used to identify and block scraping or other abuse.
6. Cookies & Analytics
This site may use cookies and similar technologies for session management, security (CSRF protection), and analytics (e.g., Google Analytics 4). You can disable cookies in your browser; some site features may not function correctly without them.
7. Data Retention
Contact-form messages are retained for as long as needed to respond and to keep a reasonable record. Verification logs are retained for security review. Member records are retained for the duration of membership and, where IDs are retired (deceased or departed members), the unique ID is preserved but the record may be moved to a soft-archive state hidden from public view.
8. Your Rights
If you are a PMA member and would like to review, correct, or remove information held about you, please contact the PMA office. If you submitted information through the contact form or newsletter, you can request its removal at any time.
9. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information held on this site, including encrypted CNIC storage, HTTPS in transit, CSRF tokens on all forms, rate limiting on sensitive endpoints, and access controls on the admin panel. However, no online system can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.
10. Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated as the site evolves. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated through the site.
